Welcome to Chromosome Mapping of Ancient Bloodlines. We are thrilled that you have stopped by this page as we have patiently been waiting for your arrival. If you a person who has a rare or very rare surname or has a very rare surname in your family tree that matches those shown on this page, or you would like to have your rare name listed so others can find you, we would like you to join our project.
This is very important as animals are not the only species who die out or go extinct. Very often entire bloodlines or family lines go extinct as well. People who are working on their family trees and who are members of this project are unable to find ancestors and their relationships to other ancestors when a rare, very rare or extinct surname shows up in the family tree. If that rare name is in a tree within a certain time frame and if enough people participate who have that surname, it is possible to map that name out with chromosome mapping by end location numbers and help piece together broken trees and family lines. Sometimes rare surnames may have biological branches with other surnames at pedigree collapse points, so even if that surname becomes extinct, it may be possible to find biological relatives through chromosome mapping.
To participate in this project, and map out your rare surname by DNA, it is necessary to submit a DNA saliva sample. Cousins who share your rare surname have already done this and can be matched to you in family finder at familytreedna.com (The distance in time the person with the rare surname was born matters so please discuss with your cousin first) When ordering your kit, make sure you select family finder, as chromosome tables are necessary to find and map out the end location number that is relevant to your surname. If you are not sure, want to think about it or maybe meet the cousin you share that rare surname with, you can do that too, by joining us in our facebook group by clicking on the FB (f symbol at the top of this paragraph).
